FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to be referred by my General Practitioner (GP) to see a Chiropractor?
No, there is no need to have a referral. As primary health practitioners, Chiropractors are able to determine the cause of your problem and provide you with the right guidance and advice to solve your health condition. We will determine if your spine and nervous system is functioning as it should and if chiropractic can help you address the cause of your condition. If we determine that your condition can not be helped through chiropractic, then we will make every effort to get you to the person who can help.
In our office we regularly receive referrals from GPs in the Wyndham and Hobsons Bay area.
Does Medicare pay for Chiropractic care?
Yes and No. The Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program can be issued by your GP and can entitle you up to 5 visits within a calendar year. However, individuals who qualify for the EPC program are usually those who have a chronic condition (that is, something that has been bothering for a long time). Additionally, just like addressing a chronic psychological problem (which is another service that you can avail from the EPC program), the 5 or less visits that people are entitled through the EPC program by Medicare may oftentimes provide an 'introductory' course of chiropractic care that may be insufficient to fully address the cause of your condition. In our office, we will endeavour to provide you with the care and advice to enable you to get the best results from those five visits and provide you with the right options if you wish to continue care. The choice will always be yours.
I have private health insurance. Can I claim Chiropractic Care through this?
Yes. If you have 'Extras Cover' as part of your policy, which also includes Orthodontic, Psychology and Optical, you can claim for Chiropractic services.
All of our chiropractors are registered providers for private health insurance.
How much can I get back from my private health insurance from Chiropractic services?
This all depends on which insurance company and the level of cover you have selected in your policy. Please check with your private health insurance for details.
How do I claim for chiropractic care from my private health insurance?
Most insurance companies now have an online lodgement system to allow their members to claim for their chiropractic care. Upon payment of your visit, we provide you with a detailed Tax Invoice with all the information you need to claim online. If you have questions, please ask at reception.
